Editors Letter

It’s hard to believe that summer has already come and gone. But if I’m being honest, I won’t miss the extreme heat we’ve all endured. I’m more than ready to welcome some cooler temperatures in the days ahead.

ASCEND FEDERAL CREDIT UNION PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH $25,000 IN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Ascend Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in Middle Tennessee, recently awarded$2,500 scholarships to 10 members. This is the 23rd consecutive year that Ascend has shown its commitment to education by providing scholarships to members to further their academic pursuits.

Recently the staff of Trendy Pieces, Bella’s Boutique and The Marketplace Home & Gift surprisedMelanie Davenport by all wearing GOD can shirts on her birthday. Trendy Pieces first printed GOD can shirts around 10 years ago, mainly as fundraiser for Endure Athletics.

SPECIAL NIGHT FOR STONES RIVER CHAPTER MEMBER, JACK MCELWAIN

On July 10th at the Stones River Chapter (Sons of the American Revolution), Jack McElwain was recognized by the Sons of the American Revolution, the BSA Trail of Tears District, and the State of Tennessee for his longtime service to the Scouting community. During the meeting, BSA Field Director, Phillip Heikkinen, shared how McElwain’s work and philanthropy resulted in the Stones River Chapter receiving the Robert E. Prytula Award.

VIProfile: Lee Allsbrook

Lee Allsbrook inspired decades of children who attended Campus School through physical fitness and life lessons as he offered his unique perspective on how to get kids to be active. Kids were less likely to be seen playing kickball under his watch, and more likely to be popping a wheelie on a skateboard, riding a unicycle or square-dancing.

The Ramsay Home

“My style has always been very eclectic,” said Kit Ramsay. “I like mixing old and new.” The Ramsay’s lovely home is a gracefully nod to both past and present.

Kit put the design skills she began developing while the family was living in Chattanooga to work after she and her husband, Chuck, purchased their current Murfreesboro home at auction in 2009.

MORE THAN 860 MIDDLE TENNESSEANS RECEIVED FREE HEALTHCARE AT 2025 MEDICAL MISSION AT HOME

Ascension Saint Thomas once again demonstrated its commitment to compassionate, community-centered care by hosting its annual Medical Mission at Home on May 3 at the Nashville Fairgrounds. The event, now a Middle Tennessee tradition, brought together more than 950 volunteers—including 650 Ascension Saint Thomas associates and 300 community partner volunteers—to provide free healthcare services to more than 860 patients from Davidson and surrounding counties.

Editors Letter

Summer is finally here—my favorite time of year! While the heat might be a bit much for some, for me, it’s all about spending extra time with friends and family and soaking up the sun outdoors. And honestly, who doesn’t feel a little more confident with a nice tan?
