Col. Thomas L. Hickerson, Recipient of the SAR Gold Citizenship Medal



Col. Thomas L. Hickerson has joined a special elite group consisting of past U.S. presidents, U.S. senators, generals, and even John Wayne and Walt Disney. On Saturday, October 18th, the National Society Sons American Revolution awarded its Gold Citizenship Award to Hickerson for his service in the U.S. Air Force and for his heroic leadership in keeping strategic military communications going

after a plane crashed into the Pentagon on 911. This represents only the 9th Tennessee presentation of this highest honor since1960. He is also a member of the Air Force Cyberspace Operations and Support Hall of Fame. The Stones River Chapter, TNSSAR (Murfreesboro, TN) is honored and pleased to have Col. Hickerson as a member and officer.

The NSSAR Gold Good Citizenship Medal is awarded for outstanding and unusual patriotic achievement and service of national importance to people of prominence on a national level in the areas of government (including military service), religion, education, business and other fields of endeavor.
