After years of Charlie Harrison asking for a dog, despite his wife Brooks repeatedly answering, “No!”… she finally relented, and they got their sweet Mazie girl!
“She was not part of a litter, but rather a single birth, which is unusual,” said Brooks. “She is quiet and easy, and fits in well with two ‘mature’ adults.”
Doodles, a cross between Poodles and another breed, are friendly, intelligent dogs. There are Shih-Poos, Bernedoodles, Aussiedoodles, Cavapoos, Maltipoos, Cockapoos, Labradoodles, Jackapoos and Goldendoodles. Mazie is a Goldendoodle.
No two Goldendoodles are alike. There are two sizes, Standard Goldendoodles and Mini Goldendoodles. The blend of their genes, including the balance of Golden verses Poodle, will impact their overall personality.
Super friendly and devoted to their families, Mazie is absolutely devoted to Charlie. She loves it when he throws her tennis ball high in the air out in their backyard. She jumps way up in the air and catches it in her mouth.
“We clap for her and she prances back to us like she's in a dog show,” exclaimed Brooks.
For all of her skill catching balls, she flunked her obedience training class. As a puppy she had the attention span of a gnat. So, the couple just laughed, and never really made her do all the necessary things or the homework. Can’t totally blame her for the bad grade. The trainer did, however, give her the “Homecoming Queen” award.
Mazie lets Charlie and Brooks know when she wants something. She stares at them with her big brown eyes, then she turns her head just a bit until they do what she wants.
She has always been a bit mischievous. When they first got Mazie as a puppy, she, of course, chewed things. Nothing too bad, until one day as Brooks was vacuuming under their dining room table. She saw a huge piece missing from their very new, and very expensive oriental rug.
“I found where she had put the missing piece,” added Brooks, “and taped it right back in the hole where it still is to this day!”
In spite of the early bad behavior, they love to spoil her. She loves for Charlie to take her riding in his truck, and she enjoys going for walks. Plus, she loves to sit on their porch swing.
“Mazie is definitely the light of our lives,” said Brooks. “And she's a favorite with all of our friends!”
