United Way Red, White and Bayou

The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties is gearing up for its 10th annual signature fundraising event, Red, White, and Bayou.

For more than 60 years, the United Way has been the unifying force that brings together community leaders, organized labor, faith-based groups, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and government to positively change community conditions. When you support United Way through events such as Red, White, and Bayou, you join a network dedicated to building a better life and a stronger community for everyone.

The event, co-chaired by Kirk & Carrie Beth Catron and Matthew & Julie Stump, will be hosted at the home of Murfreesboro residents, Jimmy & Nikkole Aho.

Jimmy & Nikkole made Murfreesboro home in the spring of 2011. Prior to the move, the Aho’s were living and working in Boston, Massachusetts. When a Middle Tennessee position opened and a change of scenery was needed, Murfreesboro fit the bill perfectly, and they haven’t looked back. The Aho’s are proud to call Murfreesboro home, and they are delighted to give back for the greater good through the United Way by hosting this year’s event at their beautiful and delightfully unique home.

The Aho home, which was custom built in 2017, is located in The Enclave, a subdivision of Marymont and one of Murfreesboro’s most private and secluded subdivisions. With dreams of land and a forever home plan, they searched Rutherford County for years before stumbling upon their beautiful new neighborhood. They quickly purchased the lot and began planning for the dream home build. The entire house, which Nikkole describes as “transitional, from foundation to the finishing touches” was designed by Nikkole. Her passion for design, décor, and fashion shine through as soon as you step foot in the Aho home. Her style is an eclectic mix of rustic and glamour, much like walking into a Vogue-Magnolia

Homes mashup that will send your heart racing with envy. The Red, White, and Bayou committee trusts that all who attend will enjoy the unique and inviting atmosphere of the Aho’s home and backyard.

As is tradition, the 10th annual event will have a Cajun-inspired theme. Attendees can expect a Cajun-American menu, customized by Shawn & Christy Hackinson with The Alley on Main. The menu will offer a wide range of flavors, including Cajun favorites and a signature drink. United Way’s Red, White, and Bayou is set for Friday, May 10, from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. The Premier Reception, which is available to sponsors at the $500 level or higher, will be held inside the Aho home beginning at 6:00 pm. Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. The main event, the Cajun-themed dinner, will immediately follow in their backyard at 7:00 p.m. The attire is casual and all in the community are welcome to attend.

Dinner tickets can be purchased for $75 per person by texting ‘Bayou’ to 41444 or visiting

We’ve made it! Through the crazy winter of cold RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN we have survived. Honestly, there were times when I was questioning whether I’d come out on the other side. I do love a good, hard, cleansing rain (while sitting in my sunroom by the fire), but days upon days and weeks upon weeks are a little much.  Read More
