Mitchell Bowman and Michael McCann

A chance meeting in a subdivision in Smyrna, TN in the early 2000’s resulted in a dynamic duo of builder and realtor homebuilding team. Established in 2004, Michael McCann (builder) and Mitchell Bowman (realtor) began a creative relationship to help people realize their homebuilding dreams. As a result, Michael’s Homes, LLC was created.

At the onset of their business, Michael and Mitchell found what was to be their niche. They discovered many clients were willing to purchase a home, if they were allowed to make modifications to the current selections inside the home. At this point, Michael and Mitchell decided they would create a process to accommodate the changes clients wanted to make to the existing stock plans. Creating this process would be the differentiator from other stock plan builders as this process provided customers the opportunity to do some customization.

The process was painful at times, but they learned to adapt and make the process possible, which would pay off down the road. As the recession hit in 2008, Michael and Mitchell proved to be flexible enough to continue to helping clients build to suit, which not only saved their business, but continued to allow them to grow as a company.

Since 2008, Michael’s Homes, LLC has continued to evolve. To date, they now have a total of 21 employees. They build mainly in Rutherford and Hamilton County with home prices ranging from the high 200,000’s to the high 600,000’s, depending on the location. Michael’s Homes, LLC now holds a full time designer/drafter to draw or modify any house plans. They also have a selections coordinator to help with the exterior/interior selection choices being made by the clients.

In 2012, Michael’s Homes, LLC implemented a new mobile application to help streamline the building activity. This application helps with all communications being made to clients as well as the subcontractors. It also allows the clients to see the status of their home, overages due, approved selections, plans, photos, etc. As of 2016, Michael’s Homes has even added remodels and swimming pools to their resume.

Michael’s Homes has been recognized and won several awards over the last several years. In 2016 they were voted Rutherford County’s Best Outdoor Living and Master Suite by the Rutherford County Home Builder’s Association. Then in 2017 Michael’s Homes was one of only two American companies to represent the United States at the 11th Saint-Gobain Gypsum Awards in Lisbon, Portugal. They were also voted 2017 ”Showcase Home of the Year” by HBA of Greater Chattanooga and in 2018 voted number 1 in Chattanooga’s Best of the Best, builder category.

According to Mitchell, “There is a misconception around custom building.” Typically, people see dollar signs as soon as they hear the words “custom build”, but you can almost build a semi-custom home for the same cost as a new home purchase. Whether you’re looking for a new home build, a garage added, or even a pool installed, Michael’s Homes, LLC has the systems, solutions, and flexibility to meet anyone’s needs. If you can dream it, Michael’s Homes, LLC can build it.
