Dr. Peter Robertson Honored at American Heart Association Celebration of Heart Event

On March 23, 2023, leaders from the American Heart Association and Ascension Saint Thomas  gathered with community members for the American Heart Association's annual Celebration of Heart event. Dr. Peter Robertson, electrophysiologist with Ascension Saint Thomas Heart, was honored with the inaugural Live Fierce Award. This award is given each year to an individual or organization who has worked to eliminate barriers to health and health equity.

Serving in Murfreesboro for more than 14 years as a board-certified electrophysiologist, Dr. Robertson provides innovative chronic, acute, and preventive heart care to adult patients of various backgrounds. He has become an invaluable figure in our medical community and has been nominated more than 10 times by colleagues and patients for the Ascension Saint Thomas Foundation's "Guardian Angel Award." This recognition is reserved for providers who offer extraordinary care.

Dr. Robertson has served in various positions with the American Heart Association over the years and is passionate about AHA's vision for increasing medical research and improving access to preventive heart health education.

“We are honored to present the Live Fierce Award to Dr. Robertson and can't think of a more deserving recipient,” said Annie Thronhill, executive director and vice president of The American Heart Association. “His volunteer service with the American Heart Association is unparalleled, as his passion for change in the Rutherford community drives the work we do on a local level.”

“Ascension Saint Thomas is proud to recognize Dr. Robertson for his longtime commitment to pursuing health equity,” said Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford hospital. “Dr. Robertson is well-loved by his colleagues, who describe him as a compassionate and gifted physician, and I am honored to award his work in our Rutherford community.”
