Braxton Head, a rising senior who attends Rutherford County Virtual School and competes for Blackman High School, has been putting in extra practice time on his already impressive practice schedule as he gears up for his first national exposure at the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship hosted by the prestigious Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on July 20-25.

“I am really excited for this opportunity to play against some of the best golfers in the country and represent the state of Tennessee well.” Braxton Head said about his upcoming tournament.

Head earned the opportunity to play in the upcoming event by winning the 67th Tennessee Junior Amateur Championship at Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tennessee back in early June by shooting a three-day score of 73, 69, 71. Notable previous winners of the Tennessee Junior Am include Blades Brown (2023) and Braxton’s personal favorite, Keith Mitchell (2010).

Barry Wortman, Blackman High School Head Golf Coach, had this to say about his team captain, “Braxton has such a passion for the game of golf. He has a mature approach to both his match and practice preparation. He brings such a positive energy to the tee box every time he plays.”
