Editors Letter




With the summer winding down, I hope our August edition of VIP Murfreesboro finds everyone relaxed, rejuvenated and maybe even a little tanner. 

This month’s VIProfile features the recently retired Dr. Paul Patel. Throughout his career at MMC and his many years working with MTSU Athletics, Dr. Patel has made a lasting impact on our community. While we know his patients and colleagues will certainly miss him, we’re confident he’ll enjoy this next chapter of life—traveling, gardening and spending quality time with family and friends.

We took a different approach with this month’s VIP Home feature by showcasing three beautiful outdoor living spaces, each featuring pools designed by Kevin Sparks Signature Pools. A special thank you to the Smith, Burt and Kirby families for opening their homes and sharing these incredible backyard retreats with us.

Inside this issue, we’re also highlighting a variety of local health and wellness services—from counseling and aesthetics to personal training and senior care. As we all move through different stages of life, especially our senior years, we hope these resources offer helpful ideas and inspiration for living well and aging gracefully.

And of course, it wouldn’t be VIP Murfreesboro without some of our favorite events from the season. We covered a little bit of everything this summer, and we hope you enjoy flipping through these pages as much as we enjoyed putting them together.

    Hanna and Spencer Carpenter had wanted a corgi for a long time. They found someone in Florida who lived close to their vacation home who had one available. The couple picked Oscar up in March 2022, and he’s been living his best life on their farm ever since. Corgis are excellent farm dogs, as they were originally bred for cattle herding.  Read More
