CASA Swearing in Ceremony

Story by Eric Lusk

CASA of Rutherford County recently celebrated the swearing in of their new volunteers. These people are pretty awesome… giving back, loving and have a voice for kids who may not have any other options. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) ensures that the Juvenile Court and the child welfare system never forget that the children we serve are entitled to safe, permanent, and loving homes.

When a child is before the court because they have been a victim of child abuse or neglect, the judge has the power to appoint a CASA volunteer to serve as a voice for that child. This allows the judge to have independent third party information from a source that has no personal stake in the court proceedings. The use of this information results in better decisions about what is in the best interest of the child.

For more information on being a CASA volunteer, please call (615)904-6996.
