Rutherford Society Gala

Story and photography by Joyce Taylor

After appetizers and drinks, RS members were seated and warmly welcomed by CEO Gordon Ferguson, Foundation Director Gina DeJean and event chairpersons Jennifer Hassan, Jamie Jackson and Adrienne Tarola. After dinner, Foundation Chair Dr. Jim Boerner presented the Physician Champion Award to Dr. Dunk Eastham and the Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist Award to Pallie and David Jones. Melanie and Barry Shipp were recognized for their most generous gift to the Foundation to kick off the capital campaign.

Derek Paravicini entertained with his ability to play any song he’d ever heard. Born at 25 weeks, weighing just over a pound, Derek is blind and is an autistic savant. Derek has made appearances across his home country of England, as well as many other countries.

Through the Rutherford Society, the STR Foundation raises money to support the mission and ministry of STR Hospital. For more information on joining the RS, call 615-396-4996.
