Ballroom Bra

Story and photography by Joyce Taylor

For this year’s Ballroom BRA there were competing dance groups, each working with a dance school, as well as raising money for the cause. Murfreesboro Surgical Specialist (The Dancer’s School), Murfreesboro Anesthesia Group (Dance Works), Bombshells (Tonya Lloyd Zumba), Shelley Goforth Xhercise (Shelley Goforth), Salons by JC (Barfield School of Dance) and Exit Reality, Bob Lamb & Associates (Dance Classics) were the competing teams. Shelley Goforth’s group was the grand winner, being judge’s pick as well as raising the most money. The event as a whole raised over $43,000!

Adrienne and Dr. Nick Tarola started this charity to aid those not able to afford breast reconstruction after cancer, as well as other reconstructive surgeries after illness. This event coincided with Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day which occurs annually in October, an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
