Parks in the Boro Casino Night

Parks in the Boro recently went “ALL IN” for The Make-A-Wish Foundation with their inaugural Casino Night at Stones River Country Club. This was a fun-filled evening of heavy Hors d’oeuvres, DJ, Photo Booth, and, of course big action at the gaming tables with chances to win some fantastic prizes! All proceeds from this event went to support Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee’s wish granting efforts.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The Middle Tennessee chapter grants more than 140 wishes annually. These wishes give children the chance to have moments of normal… a break from doctor’s visits, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, blood tests, and time in the hospital. Typical wishes include time with their family on a vacation, shopping at the mall, a backyard play set, or a trip to Walt Disney World.

August is the calendar month when summer begins its slow crawl towards autumn, but not before a few more hot days and thunderstorms. Enjoy the bounty of the season: vine-ripened tomatoes, ripe melon, sweet corn on the cob, and blueberries are just a few of my favorites. Luckily for us, Murfreesboro is blessed with one of the finest Farmer’s Markets in the state where we can do just that! Nothing screams summer better than a homecooked meal of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally grown and sold. Read More
