An Oaklands Mansion Educational Program.
Days of Washing, Churning and Learning focuses on chores of the mid-1800’s through hands-on activities for students and adults alike such as clothes washing, butter churning, quill writing, and rug beating. Artisans will be on the grounds to share their talents. Other activities scheduled for the event are: scavenger hunt of the exterior of the house, kneading dough and limited house tours. Crafts and games for the children such as: sack races, hoops-n-sticks, graces and 1860’s dress up will be available. It gives us great pleasure to share the house museum and grounds with our community and surrounding counties. There are so many new members of our community that have not experienced our rich civil war history and we want to share it with you! Teachers and parents can look forward to this event each Spring.
