Stanton Stevens

Stanton Stevens loves the strong tradition of great football that can be seen throughout the Rutherford County community. At LaVergne, Stevens aims to not only develop great players, but also great people.

Stevens learned early on, from one of his own coaches, Bill Young, to put players first as individuals. In dealing with players, he everything should not be based on how much potential football talent a player may have.

Stevens began coaching in 1994, having received his start at Bearden High School. He became head coach at Austin-East High School in 1999 where he led his team to the 3A state championship in 2001. In 2005, he was head coach at Oak Ridge High School when they were state runner up. In 2011, he landed in Rutherford County.

Stevens says Smyrna is his team’s biggest rival — La Vergne has only beaten them once in school history.

Regardless of where Stevens has been at a given time, he’s always had one game day tradition that’s remained the same. He loves pizza on game days, and whenever else he can get it!

“Shout out to Pizza Palace in Knoxville, and the pizza greats at Big Ed’s in Oak Ridge,” he laughed.
