As the owner of Barre 11, Jen Hays loves the flexibility she has when it comes to owning a business, especially when it comes to having extra time to spend with her kids. With the flexibility, of course, also comes challenges, and she admits it can be hard to find balance at times.

“In the beginning, I found myself answering phone calls and emails at any time of the day or night because I was so committed to offering good customer service,” she said. “I strive to keep a balance. If I start to let my boundaries loosen up I can find myself burning out because I’m not carving out time for myself and my family.”

Barre 11 offers different levels of barre fitness classes, along with rebounding (trampoline fitness) and yoga. “At Barre 11, you will feel like you are getting a personal training experience, but in a group setting,” she said.

“Our Instructors know you and know any modifications you might need. We keep our classes small so you don’t get lost in a crowd during your fitness journey.”

In an effort to make their schedule more diverse, Hays and her team have added different varieties of barre classes and have added their own BOUNCE program, an innovative fitness class that involves a trampoline and lots of fun. “We brought the bounce program to Murfreesboro and have seen so much success with it,” she said. “Rebounding is an outstanding form of low impact cardio fitness. It was a great investment and has really changed the game for clients who want safe and effective cardiovascular exercise.”

While Hays has encouraged many local women, she has also been inspired by others over the years. One of her greatest professional role models is Christy Wright, from Business Boutique. “She’s a smart, funny, Christian trailblazer whose mantra is to ‘do it scared,’” she said. “I’ve been to her business conference, read her book, and listen to her podcasts on a regular basis.”

Hays works hard to make Barre 11 unique, and she does that by focusing on the “experience” one will receive upon entering its doors. “We place a lot of importance on getting trained in barre properly,” she said. “Barre fitness is so popular now, it’s been watered down and most people aren’t getting the authentic barre experience that the original barre pioneers set out to offer.”

Hays loves the Murfreesboro local business community and enjoys cheering other businesses on in their own ventures. In Barre 11’s quest to support the local community, they give back in several regards. “We give back to several local charities every year,” she said. “It’s an honor to donate to the Domestic Violence and Assault Center of Murfreesboro every year. We also give back to The American Heart Association as well as several St. Thomas charity events a year.”
