The Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation recently funded a $62,972 project to refresh the Drs. Saraswat and Family Critical Care Waiting Room within the Gordon B. Ferguson CCU, replacing existing furniture to better serve patients and families. The new furnishings provide greater comfort and support for visitors who often spend long, emotional hours waiting, helping ease stress and anxiety during an especially vulnerable time. An updated CCU environment plays a vital role in supporting emotional well-being, promoting calm, and encourages meaningful connection during critical times.

Following Ascension’s $42 million Critical Care expansion, completed in February 2025, the refreshed balcony waiting area is designed to accommodate growing volumes. The updated layout increases seating and adds two counter-height tables with outlets to encourage conversation and productivity. Built for durability and infection control, the redesigned space offers a welcoming, functional setting that reflects our commitment to compassionate, high-quality care for every patient and loved one.
