A full crowd gathered in the MTSU Student Union Ballroom for the 37rd Annual Stake & Burger, featuring Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. After a cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a seated barbecue dinner. Boys & Girls Club members opened the program, followed by a lively auction and donation appeal at multiple giving levels. Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history, with 28 medals—including a record 23 golds won over five Olympic Games—then took the stage. In a Q&A with Chip Walters, he reflected on starting swimming at age 11 and spoke candidly about his work ethic, perseverance, achievements and personal challenges.
The Boys & Girls Club has made a lasting difference in the lives of many children through its programs. Proceeds from this successful event, presented by Nissan and SRM Concrete, will support the Club’s wide range of initiatives.
