The Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is proud to present their 2022-2023 concert series, “A Season of Stories”. Performed at Belle Aire Baptist Church in September, November, December, February, and April, TPO(formerly the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra) will be a five-chapter symphonic story that will be entertaining for all ages.

VIProfile: Diane Turnham

Born in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Diane Turnham only intended to stay at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) as a coach for a few years, then she planned to go back to Mt. Juliet and teach elementary school. Instead, she stayed at MTSU and is now in her 40th year at the university serving as the senior associate athletic director and senior women’s administrator.

Boxwood Cottage Designed to Linger Longer

If you are one of the more than 30,000 followers of FIG Design (@figdesigncompany) on Instagram, you have already had a glimpse behind the doors of the home, dubbed Boxwood Cottage, of Ashley and Mark Hardison, but what you might not know is that they originally planned to only live in it for a couple of years while they had a different home built. Instead of moving out, they are still there 12 years and many renovations later.

A Soldier's Child Scholarship Program

ASC has a new scholarship program for the children they serve, now over 5000 nationwide. The program is the Xavier Martin "Fill In The Gap" Memorial Scholarship Fund. US Navy Sailor Xavier Martin died at sea, on board the USS Fitzgerald DDG-62 in 2017 when it collided with another ship in the middle of the night.

Fund Renaming: James P. and Alice R. Burns Saint Louise Clinic Fund

This summer, a Middle Tennessee couple, Russ and Allison Burns, provided a generous gift to the community in honor of Russ's late parents, James and Alice Burns. This $100,000 gift through the ASTR Foundation will support the mission of the Ascension Medical Group Saint Thomas Saint Louise Family Medicine Center to provide high-quality and affordable care for Murfreesboro's most vulnerable and at-risk residents.

The reception will be held on Thursday, September, 15, 2022 from 1-2 pm at Branches, 1102 Dow Street, Murfreesboro, TN  37130. (Guests should enter through the Weight Loss entrance on the side of the building.)

Dr. Wayne Westmoreland feels he was put on this earth to serve by using the gifts he was given by God here in Murfreesboro, his adopted home. He came here for one year in the mid-1980s and he ended up staying.

Donor's Generosity Supports Future Doctors and Continues Legacy of History Making Physician

The late Dr. George Smith made history as one of Murfreesboro’s first prominent African American physicians. Now his legacy has inspired an anonymous donor to invest locally in the education of doctors-in-training. With a $100,000 gift, the donor has established the Dr. George W. Smith Family Medicine Residency Memorial Endowment through the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation.
