Athena Patrons Party

Story and photography by Joyce Taylor

Rutherford ATHENA Patrons Society members gathered at the home of Drs. Sherry and Russ Galloway to meet the nominees for the ATHENA Leadership Award and the ATHENA Young Professional Award. Patrons Society members provide the Award Program with much needed funding and receive added benefits. These members have been and are a part of the ATHENA legacy and are committed to its continuation.

Locally this award is presented by Rutherford Cable to a woman – or man - who is honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.

While enjoying wine and appetizers, guests mingled and networked in this beautiful Breckinridge home. Award recipients will be announced on April 12 during a luncheon at Embassy Suites.

For more information about the Athena awards, visit www.rutherfordcable.org/athena.

August is the calendar month when summer begins its slow crawl towards autumn, but not before a few more hot days and thunderstorms. Enjoy the bounty of the season: vine-ripened tomatoes, ripe melon, sweet corn on the cob, and blueberries are just a few of my favorites. Luckily for us, Murfreesboro is blessed with one of the finest Farmer’s Markets in the state where we can do just that! Nothing screams summer better than a homecooked meal of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally grown and sold. Read More
  • Garage Barre + Bike

You may have noticed the corner of Church St and Vine St on Murfreesboro’s downtown square looks a little different. What once was an empty building with a black coat of paint now features a pink-and-white striped wall (that you’ve probably seen photographed on social media.) Inside these striped walls are barres, bikes, and a community that is flipping the idea of a “boutique fitness studio” completely upside down. Read More
