Chris Maxey proposed to Tylar Maryssa Setser on a secluded dock in Beaufort, South Carolina, one of their favorite spots to spend time together, because of its beautiful setting among the vast marshland and its calmness which is filled with the sounds of wildlife and the great outdoors. The two decided to carry on the theme of the serene marshland background into their wedding day on November 26, 2016, under a beautiful S.C., sunset.
Chris and Tylar knew that a big, expensive wedding wasn’t their style. They also wanted to spend more money on the honeymoon, so they naturally chose the backyard of a close family friend to host their autumn, outdoor wedding. They also wanted to celebrate the marriage rather than just having a big party, so everything was intimate, rustic, and not over-the-top.
As the bride, Tylar’s vision was to make such a special day as intimate and memorable as possible. She knew that she wanted to feel confident and comfortable so that she could really be completely engaged and present during their big day. She selected a form-fitting wedding gown with an open back, and as the wedding day drew closer and closer, she began feeling anxious about how I would look and feel in it. She expressed her concerns to Chris, and he, as a personal trainer who had worked with brides preparing for before their big days, was able to personalize a plan for Tylar based on the dress shape. When she finally put on her dress on their wedding day, tears of joy filled her eyes. She felt truly confident going into the wedding.
The bridesmaids wore burgundy, navy for groomsmen and yellow, burgundy, and white flowers completed the fall, natural theme.
The reception was also held outdoors, amid oak trees and Spanish moss, at Chris’ parents’ home (across the street from the ceremony location). All in all, the wedding and reception were low cost with minimal stress. Tylar and Chris had wonderful support from friends and family in preparing and experiencing their special day. They chose to go with cupcakes for over extravagant cakes. Tylar’s college roommate did an amazing job on her hair and makeup, while Shawn Clark, Chris’s best friend was the officiant and provided the musical entertainment at the reception.
The couple honeymooned in Argentina, where they spent a week experiencing the Patagonia Mountain Range in the Andes. Being healthy and in shape also allowed them to hike, mountain climb, horseback ride, and bike alongside the locals.
Tylar and Chris have returned to make their home in Murfreesboro, where she is working at MTSU and he is the co-owner of UFit Training Studio.
