Football tailgating, the kids going back-to-school, and all of the social events leading up to the holiday season means fall has arrived. It is time to put away your crisp linens and summer sandals, and bring out your snuggly wool sweaters and heavy leather boots.
This year fashion is about the blending of opposites: new and old, Americana and bohemian, casual and classic, messy and dressy. Denim and leather never go out of style once the chill of winter sets in; this year they are being paired with floral prints, graphic tees, and embroidery inspired by Russian cruel-work. Mixed metals are set to glitter, especially on sunglasses, bags and shoes. And evening elegance is back, including chunky statement necklaces, dangly earrings, and rich velvets.
Last spring, the Pantone Color Institute forecast “Greenery “as the number one color and it was everywhere. Green continues to be a color of choice by designers for fall, with the bright summer “Greenery “morphing into shades of forest and olive. This fall Pantone has chosen a range of colors, including the return of Tawny Port and pale pink. Other colors that have hit the runways hard are bright red, warm menswear brown, and golden mustardy yellow.
