As you come over the hill past the Avenue, headed toward Blackman, look to the right and you can’t help but notice a beautiful 243 acre landscape of farmland, farmhouse, gorgeous renovated barn, and much more. Before 1987, this was the working dairy farm of the Williamson Family, a family who has adopted the philosophy of “Preserving the Past while Embracing Future.” Luckily for Murfreesboro, Mark and Tony Williamson came together with Brandon Whitt of Batey Farms to develop a concept of embracing that philosophy by creating a still working farm along with an event venue for the community. They knew they had an amazing property to incorporate a rural experience in an urban location.
Many of you may have visited to pick strawberries in late spring, early summer, or even to stop for a quick pic during the fall in the sunflower fields. This summer, you’ll even be able to pick blueberries and blackberries! However, this beautiful area is so much more. . . and has plans to become a “go to” full family experience for everyone. Enter Aaron and Wanda Thompson, son and mom with a plan to make what’s great even greater. Aaron is the catering manager for The Blue Porch Catering, and Wanda has taken on the responsibilities as event coordinator and facility manager of The Grove at Williamson Place. Many recognize these two, as well as Brandon Whitt and Batey Farms, from The Saturday Market on the square.
As the success of the farming at the Williamson Farm grew through the strawberry patch and the attraction of the Sunflower field, The Williamson’s and Brandon decided it was time to further the idea of of a true “farm to table” experience that so many long for in Murfreesboro. As Aaron and Wanda had previously owned The Blue Porch restaurant in Woodbury, as well as their still successful catering business with this idea, they were a natural fit. The experience and ideas they bring are proving to be a great decision.
Open in June 2015, The Grove at Williamson Place offers a multitude of options for enjoying that “farm to table” experience they have envisioned. The main barn, in all of its gorgeous and climate controlled splendor, has the capacity to hold anywhere from a smaller family reunion gathering to an elegant wedding and reception for 225. And that’s just where the opportunities begin! There’s also a loafing barn that can be utilized for a covered, yet still outdoor event to add 50 more invitees. Not to mention the vast outdoor area that is breathtaking and ever so welcoming!
The opportunities for entertainment and hosting are endless at The Grove at Williamson Place. They are prepared and overjoyed to make your corporate meeting, church picnic, retirement or birthday party an event to remember. It’s the perfect place to share your detail and desires about your celebration or meeting, and let them take care of the rest, including amazing farm to table food! The growth of exciting new offerings at the beautiful location are growing and changing daily. Rumor has it that the fall will bring Pop Up Dinner Clubs for a brand new way to experience date night!
